Bamboo Removal in Casselberry
Cutting bamboo to the ground only buys a few weeks. The rhizomes below keep sending up shoots. We take out the canes and the root mass, explain what is left in the soil, and tell you plainly what it takes to keep it gone.

Why Bamboo Keeps Coming Back
Bamboo lives in its rhizomes, the thick, jointed stems that run sideways a few inches to a foot under the surface. Running types, like the golden bamboo common around older Central Florida yards, can push those rhizomes several feet a season, under fences, into lawns and up through mulch beds. Mow or cut the canes and the plant simply feeds new shoots from stored energy below.
That is why real removal means digging. We are a family-owned, business licensed and fully insured crew, and we dig out the rhizome mat instead of mowing over it. Clumping bamboo is easier: it grows in a tight crown that can usually be lifted out in one piece. Either way, we tell you which kind you have and what that means for the job before any work starts.
What Our Bamboo Removal Includes
Canes down to ground level
Our crew saws each stalk off low and bundles it for the truck. That opens up the ground so we can see how far the stand really reaches.
Digging out the rhizome mat
We dig out the rhizomes by hand or with compact equipment, depending on access. We follow the runners out past the visible edge, because that is where regrowth usually starts.
Haul-away of all material
Canes, rhizomes and soil clumps leave with us. Bamboo pieces left in a pile can root again, so nothing stays on your property.
Grading and backfill
Pulling a big root mass leaves holes and loose soil. We backfill and rough-grade the area so it is safe to walk on and ready for whatever comes next.
Root barrier, if you want it
When bamboo is coming from a neighbor's yard, or you want to keep a contained stand, we can install a buried barrier along the line to slow future spread.
Signs Your Bamboo Needs to Come Out
Shoots popping up in the lawn
Green spears in the grass several feet from the main stand mean the rhizomes have already traveled. Mowing them hides the problem but does not slow it.
Pressure on fences, slabs or pavers
Rhizomes can lift pavers, crowd fence posts and work into cracks along slabs and walkways. Once you see heaving, the roots are well established.
A stand that keeps getting wider
If the clump is noticeably bigger than last year, it is a running type or a crowded clumper. Both get harder and costlier to remove the longer they grow.
Dead canes and pests inside the thicket
Dense bamboo collects dead culms and leaf litter, which gives rodents and insects cover right beside your home.
How a Bamboo Removal Job Goes
- 1
Walkthrough and free estimate
We look at the stand, probe to see how far the rhizomes run and check access for equipment. You get a straight answer on scope and cost, plus whether a barrier makes sense.
- 2
Utility locates and prep
Before we dig, we have underground utilities marked and flag sprinkler lines and heads. We protect nearby beds and lawn from foot and equipment traffic.
- 3
Cut, dig and haul
We clear the canes, dig out the rhizome mass and load everything for disposal. Most residential stands take one to a few days, depending on size.
- 4
Backfill and follow-up guidance
We backfill and grade the area, then show you what stray shoots look like. A few small sprouts in the first months are normal, and we explain how to handle them.
What Moves the Cost of Bamboo Removal
No two bamboo jobs are the same, so we price after seeing the stand in person. The estimate is free, and it covers removal, haul-away and backfill so you know the full scope up front. Bigger projects can be paid over time through our financing: up to $100,000 on 2–12-year terms, and you will not face prepayment penalties if you pay it off early.
- How big and old the stand is
- A wide, older stand has a deeper, denser rhizome mat and produces far more material to dig and haul.
- Running or clumping type
- Clumping bamboo usually comes out as a crown. Running bamboo means chasing rhizomes across a larger area, which adds labor.
- Access and nearby features
- Tight side yards, fence lines, pools, slabs and irrigation lines may mean more hand digging and slower, careful work.
- Disposal volume
- Bamboo is bulky. The number of loads to haul away is a real part of the cost.
- Root barrier and restoration
- Adding a barrier or new sod or plantings afterward is priced separately so you can choose what you need.
Bamboo Removal Questions

Will the bamboo grow back after you remove it?
If rhizome pieces stay in the soil, some shoots can appear. We dig past the visible edge to remove as much as possible, but a few sprouts in the first season are common with running types. Snapping or cutting them off as soon as they show starves what is left, and it usually stops within a season or two.
Can't I just spray it with weed killer?
Herbicide alone rarely finishes the job on an established stand. It takes repeated treatments and the dead root mass stays in the ground, still taking up space where you want lawn or beds. Digging is slower up front but gives you usable ground right away.
The bamboo is coming from my neighbor's yard. What can you do?
We can remove everything on your side of the line and install a buried root barrier along it to slow new runners. The barrier will not stop the stand completely forever, but it buys a lot of time and makes any crossing shoots easy to spot.
What can I put in the space afterward?
Once the area is backfilled and graded, it is ready for new sod, a planting bed or a hardscape feature. We handle sod installation, mulch and beds, and landscape design, so we can plan the next step during the same walkthrough.
Will the work damage my sprinkler system?
We flag heads and lines before digging and work carefully around them. Rhizomes sometimes wrap around old irrigation pipe, so if a line has to be cut to free the roots, we tell you first and can handle the irrigation repair.
